A bold new chapter in sustainable luxury travel has begun with the opening of &Beyond Suyian Lodge — an extraordinary retreat set within the heart of Kenya’s Laikipia Plateau. Spanning 44,000 acres of private wilderness, this one-of-a-kind lodge offers something truly rare: complete exclusivity within a rewilded conservancy, where cutting-edge design, immersive exploration, and conservation-driven hospitality come together seamlessly.
Located in the Suyian Conservancy — meaning “wild dog” in the local Samburu language — the lodge is both a sanctuary for wildlife and a transformative space for travelers. Here, Kenya is reimagined for the curious and conscious explorer, offering deeply personal experiences that go far beyond the traditional safari.

Guests are invited to walk alongside herders across ancient grazing lands, embark on horseback safaris over vast plateaus, or track nocturnal creatures — including the elusive black leopard — on night drives. Helicopter excursions, community visits, conservation talks, yoga atop rock formations, and moments of stillness in nature complete a journey crafted to inspire awe, presence, and connection.
“This is Kenya, reimagined for the traveller who seeks more than a checklist,” explains Joss Kent, &Beyond’s Executive Chairman and CEO.
“Suyian Conservancy brings the full breadth of Laikipia to life through layered storytelling, meaningful interaction, and a lodge that feels as though it has grown organically from the ground it rests on."

A Lodge Born from the Land
Designed in collaboration with Nicholas Plewman Architects, Michaelis Boyd, and Fox Browne Creative, Suyian Lodge reflects a distinctive Afro-Wabi-Sabi aesthetic — an expression of beauty through earthy textures, organic materials, and handcrafted details that celebrate imperfection.
Each of the 14 suites, including a spacious family suite, features private plunge pools, panoramic views, and interiors that mirror Kenya’s tactile richness: wild dog–inspired cladding, Samburu beadwork, bronze accents, and a palette shaped by the surrounding landscape.
The lodge’s wellness centre, tucked into the escarpment rocks, includes steam and cold plunge pools, two serene treatment rooms, and a yoga studio shaded for sunrise practice. A state-of-the-art gym completes the offering, while meals are thoughtfully crafted from seasonal produce grown in the surrounding highlands and the lodge’s own herb garden. Guests can dine communally in the welcoming chef’s kitchen or opt for private meals under the stars — every setting curated for intimacy and immersion.

A Shared Sanctuary for
People and Wildlife
Once a cattle ranch, the land of Suyian Conservancy has been carefully restored over decades into a thriving biodiversity corridor, now home to endangered species like the Grevy’s zebra, Laikipia hartebeest, reticulated giraffe, African wild dog, and black leopard.
The conservancy is owned by the Suyian Conservancy Trust, a Kenyan non-profit, and managed under a framework approved by the Kenya Wildlife Service, with oversight from global conservation charity Space for Giants. Through this partnership with &Beyond, Suyian now stands as a model for how low-impact, high-value tourism can become a self-sustaining engine for conservation and community benefit.
“The opening of &Beyond Suyian Lodge marks a major milestone in our mission to make Suyian Conservancy a self-financing engine for nature conservation,” says Dr. Max Graham, Founder and CEO of Space for Giants. “Guests staying here contribute directly to the protection of biodiversity and to the wellbeing of the people who share this land.”
Unlike many other destinations in East Africa, there are no other lodges within the conservancy. With &Beyond holding exclusive tourism rights, guests have the rare privilege of exploring this vast wilderness in total privacy.

More Than a Safari
“What sets Suyian Conservancy apart is not just what it offers, but how it feels,” says Kent. “It’s a lodge built not just for safaris, but for those seeking space to breathe, to learn, and to feel part of something larger.”
Every detail at Suyian Lodge — from the map room echoing conservation tales to the scents rising from the herb garden — invites reflection and deeper connection. This is a love letter to Kenya’s wild north: raw, majestic, and quietly life-changing.
